Go by train…

Sunday, February 10th, 2008

I am in Auckland at the moment in Kai’s house. I decided to go to Auckland earlier. It was time to leave for me. So I went by the Overlander train from Wellington to Auckland in 12 hours. The train left at 7:25 am from Wellington. I wasn’t sure at the beginning if I should go because it sounded like a nice weekend in Wellington but yeah now I am happy that I went away. The journey was relaxing. I just slept the whole time and between I organised my hundreds of hundreds MP3s which I got in the last weeks and did a press release for Miriam. My best friend, she got national Champ in Badminton. Very cool and thought about the last month here.

So yesterday I was digging at the national track in Dome Valley. It was okay but I would have prefered to ride my bike because at the end I got informed that it was the last training day before the race. Great and I did just 2 runs. I like the track it is short and good fun.

Today we wanted to go to Rotorua again to do some runs. But we went out and I danced a lot so I was very tired in the morning and slept tooo long to go to Rotorua. For that trip we should have left about 6 o clock in the morning to earn from the day… Whatever we are on the way to an other track I forgot the name … I hope it doesn’t rain because it has 95% humidy.

So so I will go on. see you lene

Rotorua… the second north island cup race…

Monday, February 4th, 2008

This weekend I competed in Rotorua. It’s located in the North of the North Island. It’s the Queenstown of the north Island but more Maori culture and population. On the Rotorua homepage it is called a distinctive smell, in my words the whole city smells like millions of rotted eggs because of the geothermal heat. But apart from that which didn’t bother me anyway it’s a nice place. We (Hamish, Blair, Jeremy and what’s his name and I) stayed in a cabin located to a very nice lake.

It was a nice cabine for 5 people, we were a harmonic group and I was happy to stay with them. Thanks to Blair  for organizing the accomondation…

We arrived on thursday evening, did a XC ride through the rotorua bike paradise.  Which is just a paradise on a xc bike or a light freedride bike. I didn’t enjoy it that much on my downhill bike, rolling around in the flat. But it seems to be a high frequented xc bike area because the trails were hard like concrete and there are heaps of organize shuttles. On Friday we walked down the downhill track and it took us ages. When it didn’t rain the sun was burning down. So we were wet all the time.

So I don’t wanna explain to much now what happened or what not happened. I ended up last which sucks (4th place) but I can’t change it know. I am back in Wellington now and the weather was crap so I took a day of and can hopefully train tomorrow.

See you LENE
